Who doesn’t love the 1970’s? From the awesome music to the crazy clothing and the affordable property prices! The generation of flower power, flares and flowing locks holds a special place in the hearts of everyone lucky enough to remember the time when cats were in the cradle and the good old boys were drinking whiskey and rye.
70’s Unplugged will take you back to those glory days, with the music, the images and the news that shaped our nation, and our lives. With music from America, The Eagles, Carole King and Don McLean, it’s the soundtrack of a generation.
The multi-media show is headed up by Stephen Fisher-King, an award-winning entertainer and musical theatre performer who, as a child fell in love with the guitar-based sounds of the 70s.
“I started my career with this music,” he says. “It was the soundtrack to my childhood, and the playlist for my foray into the entertainment business in the successful Canberra duo ‘Smooth Side’.
“I went on to study at the Canberra Conservatorium, and have spent many years performing the classics at venues right around Australia and the world, but the time is now right to get back on the guitar and have some fun!
“Everyone will know the music we play and I bet they’ll be singing loudly! We’ve also got a video presentation that includes some great images of the celebrities of the day, as well as fashion, news and commercials. It’s a real walk down memory lane!”
Stephen will be joined on stage by a five-piece band, including fellow 70s fans and award winning performers Chris Connolly and Jo Elms.
Chris is a brilliant and experienced vocalist and guitarist, and an award-winning entertainer who has even performed on Countdown, while Jo is an award-winning singer songwriter and experienced entertainer with a love for ‘all-things Seventies’.
“We are so excited to come together in this fantastic show,” says Stephen. “The music is great, the cast is great and the audience will have a ball, and feel like they’ve spent a bit of time remembering the glory days!”
